Maksimovo is a village in the Melenkovsky district of the Vladimir region . It is part of the Butylitsky rural settlement with a center in the village of Butylitsy .

Geographical position
The village of Maksimovo is located at the border of the Melenkovsky and Gus-Khrustalny districts, 5 kilometers (in a straight line) from the village of Butylitsy . One and a half kilometers south of the village, the Ushna River flows, which originates several kilometers southwest in the forest.
History
The village was first mentioned in salary books in 1676 as part of the Butylitsky parish ; then it contained a courtyard of landowners and 15 peasant courtyards [2] .
In the XIX - first quarter of the XX century, the village was part of the Butylitsky volost of the Melenkovsky district , since 1926 - as part of the Murom district . In 1859 [3] there were 129 yards in the village, in 1905 [4] - 137 yards, in 1926 [5] - 382 yards.
Since 1929, the village was the center of the Maksimovsky village council of the Melenkovsky district , since 2005 - as part of the Butylitsky rural settlement .

In the village is located Maksimovsky Murom branch of the Gorky Railway . Thanks to the railway, you can get to Moscow, Murom and other cities. There is also a bus service to the district center.

Interesting Facts
A migrant from Maksimovo, a peasant Kruglov, is one of the founders of the neighboring village of Dobryatino . The outstanding Murom historian Yepanchin A. A. writes about this in his book “Toponymy of Murom and its environs” by Murom, 2000.
In November 2011, on the southern outskirts of the village, near Ushna , in a small backwater pond called the locals of Seca, were discovered traces of a snowman , there were also eyewitnesses who saw a humanoid creature covered with wool.
In May 2012, a wave of attacks on livestock and chickens swept across the region, and an opinion was expressed that Chupacabra was active [8] .
