Biography
Born in Galicia. He studied at the gymnasiums of Sambir and Jaslo . Then he studied geography, geology and meteorology, first at the University of Vienna , where he attended lectures by Professor Albrecht Penk , then at the University of Lviv , under the guidance of Anthony Reman , associate professor Eugene Romer and other prominent scientists.
After graduation, he worked as a teacher of physical and economic geography in the grammar schools of Lviv. Then a teacher, since 1918 - a professor at the University of Lviv, and 1919 - at the University of Poznan. Organizer of the Institute of Geography at the University of Poznan. Here he prepared and published the Atlas of Geographical Names of Western Slavs (translated into English and French).
In 1928, he initiated the creation of the Poznan Geographical Society.
Rector of the University of Poznan in 1932.
In 1938, he was elected vice president of the International Geographic Union.
After the outbreak of World War II, he was captured by the Nazis and executed on January 6, 1940 in the Poznan concentration camp Fort VII .
