Professional Wrestling Career

World Wrestling Federation (1987-1991)

Leaving WWF (1991)

On July 10, 1991, Warrior sent a letter to Vince McMahon , in which he put forward a number of requirements for his new contract with the company. He demanded $ 550,000 for his performance at WrestleMania VII , a guaranteed number of working days, payment for accommodation during travel, a larger percentage of the sale of souvenirs. In a letter, he wrote that, in fact, $ 550,000 was "not a fair price" and that "he is much more valuable for the show than the Hulk Hogan ." He ended the letter with these words: “Whatever your decision, I can and I will live with him. Until then, I stay at home with those who care about me ” [4] .

On July 13, 1991, WWF responded to his demands by agreeing to pay him $ 550,000 for participating in the show, as well as paying him a higher percentage of sales and assuring him that no wrestler would receive more than he did for participating in pay per view show. Vince McMahon personally concluded the letter with the words: “I would like to express my personal respect and admiration for you as a performer, as a member of the WWF family, as a man and as my friend” [5] [6] .

After the annual SummerSlam show, Warrior received a letter dated August 26, 1991, in which McMahon stated that Warrior would immediately step back from speaking. Among other things, Vince wrote: “You scared me that you would stay at home and not appear on Titan SummerSlam 's most important summer show. I had no choice but to accept your high demands. That was a serious mistake on your part. ” Vince later confirmed that the only reason the company agreed to this contract was to “temporarily agree to his request” for Warrior to speak at SummerSlam [7] [8] .

After receiving the letter, Warrior refused to be suspended and left the company. In October 1991, he officially sent a letter of resignation. WWF refused to accept his dismissal until the end of his contract in September 1992. [9]

Return to WWE and inclusion in WWE Hall of Fame (2014)

The Last Warrior at the WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony

On January 13, 2014, it was announced at RAW that the Last Warrior would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame . On April 5, Linda McMahon introduced the Warrior to the Hall of Fame. [10] The next day, Warrior appeared on the WrestleMania XXX show, and on April 7, for the first time since 1996, took part in the Raw show. During his last participation in Raw, the Warrior made a speech in the image of The Last Warrior, in which he said

Not a single WWE talent becomes a legend himself. Each person’s heart will one day take the final blow. Each person’s lungs will one day take their last breath. And if a person has done something in his life that makes the blood of other people pulsate and fills their life with something deep, then his soul will be immortalized. Storytellers, favors, the memory of those who worshiped him, this person will gain eternal life. You, you, you, you, you, you, you are the ones who made the Warrior a legend. Now I see many potential legends. Some of them are with the spirit of a warrior. You will do the same with them. You decide if they lived with passion. So much so that they would tell stories about them and compose legends about them. I am the Last Warrior. You are fans of The Last Warrior, and the spirit of the Last Warrior will always be alive.

Personal life

On October 2, 1982, Warrior married Sheri Lynn Tyree. The couple met in Dallas ( Texas ) at the famous strip club Million Dollar Saloon, where Cherie worked at that time. They lived together most of Warrior's WWF career until they divorced on March 22, 1991, two days before WrestleMania VII . In 2000, Warrior married his girlfriend Dana a second time. In the marriage, the couple had two girls: Indiana Marine Warrior in 2000 and Mattigan Twain Warrior in December 2002.

Death

Warrior passed away on April 8, 2014 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Warrior fell, clutching his heart, not far from the Arizona hotel at 17:50 on April 8, when he was walking to his car with his wife. He was immediately taken to the nearest hospital where death was ascertained. [12] An autopsy revealed that the Warrior died of a heart attack caused by atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
