Yakovenko Mikhail Ignatievich (born May 25, 1959, village of Bosovo, Belokurakinsky District, Lugansk Region - December 30, 1994, Davydo-Nikolskoye, Krasnodonsky District ) - commander of the operational platoon of the Berkut quick reaction police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Lugansk Region, police lieutenant colonel . The first was awarded (May 7, 1995) the honors of the President of Ukraine - the star " For Courage " (posthumous) [1] .

Biography

Born May 25, 1959 [2] in the village. Bosovo, Belokurakinsky district, a few years later the family moved to Lugansk . In 1976 he graduated from high school. He worked as an apprentice electrician pumping station.

In 1977 he entered the higher anti-aircraft missile school in the city of Ordzhonikidze.

From June 1981 to October 1985 - he served in the Odessa Higher Military School of Air Defense in the educational process support unit, after which he became the commander of the anti-aircraft battery. In October 1991, leaves the service in the Armed Forces.

In the internal affairs bodies since February 18, 1992 [2] . Since September 1992 - in the forming special forces of the quick reaction police "Golden eagle". Major, lieutenant colonel, leads the operational platoon; repeatedly personally participated in the detention of armed criminals. He was awarded the medals "For Military Merit", "For Impeccable Service", "70 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR" [2] .

On the night of December 29-30, 1994, in the village of Davydovo-Nikolskoye, Krasnodonsky District, he participated in the neutralization of an armed criminal group of 4 people, who was involved in many serious crimes, including contract killings. The gang was neutralized, but during the operation, Yakovenko was seriously wounded in the head and died in the hospital from his wounds [3] [4] .

May 7, 1995 for personal courage and heroic actions during the detention of armed criminals posthumously awarded the highest award of Ukraine at the time for courage - the distinction of the President of Ukraine - the star "For Courage". This was the first decree awarding a new distinction.

By order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, police lieutenant colonel Yakovenko Mikhail Ignatievich was forever enlisted in the lists of personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Luhansk region [2] .

In honor of Mikhail Yakovenko named street (4th line) in Lugansk [2] .
