The monument to A.S. Pushkin ( Azeri. Puşkinin heykəli ) is a monument to the Russian poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin in the capital of Azerbaijan , Baku . The monument is located in the park of the same name at the intersection of Pushkin and Uzeir Gadzhibekov streets . The author of the bronze monument is a sculptor, academician of the Academy of Arts of Russia Yuri Orekhov [1] . This monument is the last work Orekhova [2] .

The opening of the monument took place on October 12, 2001 [2] . The ceremony was attended by Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev [3] , Mayor of Baku Gadzhibala Abutalybov and Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Azerbaijan Nikolay Ryabov [1] . The monument is a gift of the Russian government to the 10th anniversary of the independence of Azerbaijan , which was celebrated on October 18 [2] .
Every year on the birthday of Pushkin at the monument are held events dedicated to the memory of the poet . They are attended by officials, intellectuals, as well as residents of the capital [4] [5] .
