Early years
Ethan was born in the city of Suffern, New York State, spent his childhood in Israel [1] [2] . At the age of 10, Ethan found a cassette tape from Iron Maiden from The Number of the Beast from his older brother. First, the future musician was attracted to the album cover, and the subsequent listening to the recording prompted him to start playing the guitar [3] [4] .
After returning to the United States in 2001, Ethan entered Berkeley College of Music, where many famous musicians studied before him, and graduated with honors in 2004 with a degree in songwriting. In 2008, Ethan returned to Berkeley, but already as a teacher [2] [5] . While working at Berkeley, Ethan repeatedly participated in guitar sessions and original shows [2] . In 2008, Ethan took part in the Guitar Hook contest organized by George Lynch ( Lynch Mob , ex- Dokken ). At the competition, the musician presented his song “The Hit Man” and won it [6] . Then in December there was a performance at the Rock 4-Xmas show, where Ethan's partners on stage were Eddie Mani, Joe Molland ( BadFinger ), Kelly Killing (groups Alice Cooper and Yngwie Malmsteen , Trans Siberian Orchestra ), Terry Illos (XYZ) and Pat Travers [2] .
Career
Ethan began writing material for his debut album as part of various college projects. There, in Berkeley, Ethan met drummer Mike Mangini . This acquaintance was the starting point in creating the debut instrumental album of the guitarist [7] . In addition to Mike, guitarists Greg Howe and Joe Stump , who taught at Berkeley at different times, as well as George Lynch, took part in the recording of the album. The album was called Out of Oblivion and was released on New York's progressive record label Magna Carta Records in 2009. The album was designed by Derek Riggs, who previously worked in particular with Iron Maiden, including the album The Number of the Beast . Mixing and mastering was performed by Chris Tsangarits [2] .
After the release of the album, the young musician was invited by Kenny “Raynaud” Earl Edwards ( HolyHell , ex- Manowar ) to join the new Angels of Babylon supergroup, which was also attended by David “Dave” Ellefson ( Megadeth ) and David Fefault (Hawk, Valhalla). The band's debut album, titled Kingdom of Evil , was released in 2010 [2] . Ethan took part in the recording of the second album of the group, but was forced to leave the project before the official release. By his own admission, the musician decided to focus on his solo career and the group Burning Heat [7] [8] , in which he also takes part [1] .
In 2010, Ethan released several video lessons on playing the guitar. Records of these lessons were distributed as an appendix to Guitar World magazine [2] .
In 2013, Ethan was invited by Yngwie Malmsteen to take part in a joint tour of the cities of the United States and Canada. Ethan said about the opportunity to perform on the same stage with Malmsteen: “I always knew that at some point, something like this was supposed to happen, but this is one of those things that you think about:“ Ah, maybe it will happen in the distant future, "and then, suddenly, you receive a phone call, and it becomes a reality” [4] . The first half of the tour, Ethan played with his group, which also included his sister Neely , Giorgio Mongeli and John Anthony [6] . Ethan played the second half of the tour with Burning Heat [4] . In the same year, Ethan released his second instrumental album Live the Dream . The album was mixed at Max Norman's studio, which specifically worked with Ozzy Osbourne on Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman and classic Megadeth recordings. David Ellefson [7] [9] took part in the recording of the album. The mastering of the album was performed by Bob Ludwig, who worked with Iron Maiden , Def Leppard and Bon Jovi [3] [7] .
Impact
Ethan loves hard rock and glam metal bands from the 80s [6] [8] . The desire to play in one of these groups, "still collecting huge venues", and "led (him) to rock music, first of all" [6] . Ethan claims that the band that inspired him to play music was Iron Maiden. She remains Ethan's favorite band so far [3] [9] .
Among his favorite guitarists, Ethan repeatedly called George Lynch [3] [6] [7] and Yngwie Malmsteen [3] [8] , and also singled out Greg Howe [3] [8] and Tommy Emmanuel [8] . In addition, Ethan in his interviews noted such guitarists as Randy Roads [8] , Jake and Lee [8] , Jason Becker [3] and Nuno Bettancourt [3] .
Equipment
Ethan is an endorser for a number of companies specializing in the manufacture of guitar equipment and accessories, including DiMarzio, D'Addario, Kahler, AMT Electronics , Alden Guitars, Godin guitars , NADY Wireless and ISP Technologies [10] [11] .
Ethan himself prefers vintage guitars and amplifiers of the 1980s, such as the Washburn EC36, BC Rich Gunslinger and ADA MP1 Preamp. At the same time, the musician notes that for him "there is no perfect guitar."
| I am always on the lookout for different types of tones. There is distortion in the sound, and there is no way to get it all on one guitar. There is no perfect guitar. It does not exist. I like a lot of different models. I'm still looking for one with whom I would feel very comfortable, and I still have not found her.Ethan Brosh. Daily Music News , 2013 [8] |
Family
Ethan has an older brother and younger sister, Neely, who is also a famous shred guitarist. Neely helps Ethan on his concert tours. The musician says about the opportunity to play with his own sister on the same stage, that people really liked the “concept of brother and sister”. “I have never seen a brother and sister doing the same thing we do,” says Ethan [4] .
