Naval El Mutawakel is a Moroccan athlete who specialized in 400 meters hurdles. Champion of the Mediterranean Games 1983 and 1987. Olympic champion in 1984 with a personal record - 54.61 - this result is still the record of Morocco. The first Muslim woman and the first woman from a Muslim country who managed to win an Olympic medal. At the 1982 African Championships, she won gold medals at 100 meters with hurdles and 400 meters with hurdles, as well as a silver medal in 100 meters .
