The journal is intended for the rapid publication of original scientific articles, reviews, educational and reference materials on all sections of the theory and practice of mass spectrometry , which had not previously been published in other publications.
Since 2007, the journal has been included in the list of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications in which the main scientific results of a dissertation for the degree of doctor and candidate of sciences of the Higher Attestation Commission (in chemistry) should be published, including as a journal recommended for publishing the main results of dissertations on PhD degree. At the end of the year, selected articles published in the journal Mass Spectrometry are published in English as a special issue of the Journal of Analytical Chemistry ( English version of the Russian journal Journal of Analytical Chemistry ).
The magazine is published four times a year.
