Biography
Georg Kramne was born on December 20, 1966 in Monrovia , the capital of Liberia . He grew up in a poor large family, but at the age of six he was adopted by a Swedish family and moved to Sweden, where he began to actively engage in boxing. He achieved his first serious success in the ring in 1987, when he joined the national team and went to the European Championships in Turin, losing there in his first match. Later, thanks to a series of successful lightweight performances, he won the right to defend the country's honor at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul , managed to reach the finals, losing only to the German Andreas Tsyulov .
In 1989, Kramne competed in the European Championship in Athens, although in the second match in the tournament with a score of 0-5 he lost to the Soviet boxer Konstantin Tszyu , who eventually became the champion. Two years later, at the European Championship in Gothenburg, he again tried to break into the number of winners, but this time he was defeated by German Marco Rudolph . Soon after these competitions, Kramne decided to leave the team and switch to professionals. In total, he spent 125 fights in amateurs, including 105 he won [1] .
After moving to the United States, he began training under the guidance of the famous coach Angelo Dundee , and in July 1991, under the pseudonym George Scott spent his first professional fight - he knocked out the Mexican Armando Gonzalez in the first round. Over the next three years, he won many fights, defeated many rivals, won the belt of the champion of continental America according to the World Boxing Council (WBC). In August 1994, he fought for the world lightweight champion title according to the International Boxing Federation (ICF), but the current champion Puerto Rican Jake Rodriguez was too strong for him - a technical knockout in the ninth round.
Despite the defeat, Scott continued to enter the ring against the strongest boxers and in October 1995 became the world lightweight champion according to the World Boxing Union. Subsequently, he defended this title four times, losing it only at the end of 1997 due to a conflict with his own manager. In February 1998, he again participated in the title fight, the belt of the WBC world champion was at stake - Scott could not defeat the current champion Stevie Johnston , in the eighth round he was knocked down and lost by unanimous decision. In the next rating match, which took place a few months later, he also lost on points, and this time by no means the most powerful opponent. Scott continued to box on a professional level until 2001, was a contender for the ICF intercontinental belt, tried to pick up the belt of the European Boxing Union (EBU) champion, but in both cases he lost and therefore decided to end his career as an athlete. In total, he held 46 fights in professional boxing, of which 41 ended with victory (including 17 ahead of schedule), and lost 5 times.
In recent years, George Scott held two fights under the auspices of K-1 according to the rules of kickboxing, including defeating Olympic team-mate Lars Muerberg , bronze medalist of the Games in Seoul. Currently works as a trainer, participates in the organization of boxing demonstration matches [2] .
