Biography

Lars Myurberg was born on November 23, 1964 in Stockholm . He achieved his first serious success in the ring in 1985, when he first got into the main team of the national team and went to the European Championship in Budapest, where, however, at the quarter-finals stage he lost to the Soviet boxer Vyacheslav Yanovsky . A year later, he came to fight for medals at the World Championships in the American city of Reno, but in the very first match of the tournament he was knocked out by a Cuban Eduardo Correa . At the European Championship in 1987 in Turin, Mürberg went to the semifinals, where he was defeated by USSR representative Vasily Shishov , who eventually became the champion.

Later, thanks to a series of successful welterweight performances at domestic championships, Murberg was granted the right to defend the honor of the country at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul , managed to reach the semifinals, and there with a score of 0-5 lost to Australian Graeme Cheney . Shortly after winning the bronze Olympic medal, Lars Mürberg left the national team of Sweden and did not take part in the biggest boxing tournaments in the world. In total, amateurs spent 147 fights, of which 117 ended with a victory [1] .

In 1996, after a long break, Mürberg decided to try his hand at professional boxing and in January spent a professional fight against Briton Shaba Edwards, beating him with a technical knockout in the third round (the opponent could not continue boxing due to a strong cut). Despite the victory, this fight was the only one in the professional career of a Swedish athlete.
