History
The museum was opened on September 1, 1988 [1] [2] [3] .
The first exhibition in the museum was dedicated to the centenary of the foundation of the Village Lugansk [1] [2] [3] .
In 1993, the exposition "The village of Lugansk, the original settlement of the Don Cossacks" [1] [2] [3] was created . Thus, over time, the museum turned from a local history settlement into a museum of the Don Cossacks.
The first director is Anatoly Kudaev.
Exposition
The museum provides guided tours of halls dedicated to the history of the village and the life of the Don Cossacks [1] .
In 1999, the museum on the ground floor opened an exhibition of sculptors, Honored Artist of Ukraine and laureate of the Russian Prize named after Mikhail Sholokhov Nikolay Vasilyevich Mozhayev. Mozhaev made monuments such as: dedicated to the discoverer of coal in the Donbass, Grigory Kapustin and the ataman of the Don Troops Kondraty Bulavin [1] [2] [3] .
In 2012, the fund has 1,666 items from the main and 836 from the scientific and auxiliary fund [1] [3] .
Schools from the Stanichno-Lugansk region , as well as the Lugansk club of military-historical reconstruction of the Don and local residents helped to collect exhibits [1] [2] .
Since June 2007, the exhibition "Our compatriots" about the participants of the Great Patriotic War [1] [3] has been working.
Description
The museum is conducting research work and studying the history of settlements in the Stanichno-Lugansk region, as well as collecting exhibits and materials on the history of the region [1] [2] [3] .
The museum studies the cultural traditions of local Cossacks and records samples of folklore, also holds meetings with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, and with the liquidators of the Chernobyl accident, hosts folklore holidays, as well as creative evenings and exhibitions of artists are organized [1] [2] .
The museum is visited by residents from districts, regions, as well as from near and distant territories [1] .
In 2009, the museum was visited by about 7,500 people [1] .
