History
The district was temporarily formed in 1905, and officially legalized in 1909.
Until 1860, the mountain population of the North Caucasus was subordinate to the military authorities of the Left (North-East Caucasus) and Right (North-West Caucasus) flanks of the Caucasian line. Civil administration was only in the Stavropol province. After the end of the Caucasian war, military control of the Caucasus was liquidated. In 1860, the entire territory of the North Caucasus was divided into the Stavropol province, Kuban, Terek and Dagestan regions. Terek region consisted of 8 districts: Kabardinsky, Ossetian, Ingush, Argun, Chechen, Ichkerinsky and Kumyksky.
The administrative center of the Ingush district, along with the Ossetian district, was Vladikavkaz . The Ingush district consisted of three sections: Nazran, Psedah ββand Gorsky. Significant lands of the plain of Ingushetia in 1864-1865 after the construction of Cossack villages on them were directly subordinated to the Terek Cossack army.
In 1870, the Ingush district, together with the Cossack villages on Sunzha, was merged with the Ossetian district into one Vladikavkaz district. In 1888, the Ingush district, together with the lands of the Tersky Cossack army on Sunzha, was merged into the Sunzhensky department of the Tersk region.
The Sunzhensky department in 1909 was disaggregated into two districts - Nazranovsky and Sunzhensky. The Nazran District included part of the land, inhabited mainly by the Ingush .

By 1909, about 65 thousand people lived in the okrug.
