Early years

Yannick's father is Portuguese, his mother is Spanish. At an early stage of his career, Yannick used both surnames of his parents, but since 2015, he prefers only the surname of his mother, Carrasco , explaining this by the early departure of his father from the family [2] . Thanks to his origin, he had the opportunity to play for the national teams of Portugal and Spain, but since his teens he had concentrated on playing for Belgium, where he had grown up.

Yannick is a pupil of the Belgian club Beershot , into which he moved from an amateur Digem Sport . In 2009, he moved to Genk , where he played in the same group as Kevin De Bruyne . At the age of 16 he joined the French “ Monaco ” and began playing for the farm club “Monegasques”.

Monaco

At the start of the 2012/13 season he made his debut in the main team. Exactly a month later, he scored the first goal in the match against Tours (4-0) [3] . Carrasco enjoyed the confidence of Claudio Ranieri and for the whole season started on the bench only six matches. He scored eight goals, including a double in a duel against Auxerre (0: 2). His team easily won the championship of the second division and entered the League 1 [4] .

In the summer of 2013, big investments came to Monaco , and along with them star players. However, Carrasco retained a place at the base, scoring the first goal on October 5 in the confrontation with Saint-Etienne . A week later, scored a double in a match with Sochaux (2: 2) [5] . At the end of the season, he became vice champion of France, and was also nominated for the Golden Boy Award.

In the summer of 2014, he was close to moving to Roma . The parties agreed on the terms of the buyback of the player - 5 million euros, and Carrasco himself was supposed to sign a contract for 4 years with a salary of 2 million euros per season [6] . However, the transfer failed and Ferreira extended the agreement with Monaco until 2019. The composition of the princely club replenished the stars of the Brazilian Mundial , so Carrasco at the start of the next season was in stock. He scored his first goal only on October 18 in a confrontation with Evian (2: 0). Already in the next round he scored a goal and an assist in the match against Bastia (1: 3). In winter, Carrasco gained a great shape, having marked two more goals in fights against Metz (1: 0) and Lyon (1: 1). And in February, the player replaced the first match of the 1/8 Champions League against Arsenal and scored the third goal of his team, which eventually allowed the Monegasques to advance to the next stage of the tournament [7] .

Atletico Madrid

On July 7, 2015, it became known that Atlético was in talks to buy Carrasco. Three days later, the official website of the "mattresses" informed about the signing of an agreement for five years, the transfer amount was 20 million euros [8] [9] . At Vicente Calderon , the Belgian was supposed to replace Ardu Turan , who had gone a little earlier to Barcelona . However, Carrasco himself said that he was not moving to Madrid in order to replace anyone:

These first days at Atlético turned out well for me. I have already trained with my new teammates and feel good. I did not go to Atlético to replace Turan. I will fight to win a place in the main team. Going to this club is a dream come true for me [10] .

On August 30, 2015, Ferreira made his debut in the new team in a duel against Sevilla (0: 3). He scored his first goal on October 18 in a confrontation with Real Sociedad (0: 2) [11] . Then he helped Atlético beat Valencia at home (2: 1). Quite often, Carrasco was used by Diego Simeone as a player who can change the course of the game after a substitution. It was Simeone’s decision to release Carrasco on the field in the final match of the Champions League season 2015/16 against Real Madrid that influenced the further course of the match. Carrasco was one of the best players on the field, his constant acceleration in the attack, as well as successful feints, helped Carrasco exhaust the defenders of Real Madrid, in particular Dani Carvajal . And it was Yannick who equalized in the match, distinguishing himself in the 79th minute of the match, however, in the penalty shootout, Atlético again lost to Real Madrid. He became the first Belgian to ever score in the Champions League final [12] . While celebrating a goal, Yannick ran to the stands, where he kissed his girlfriend Noemi Happart, 2013 Miss Belgium .

The following season for Atletico Carrasco played 53 matches in all competitions and scored 14 goals, setting a new personal performance record.

Dalian Yifan

On February 26, 2018, Carrasco and his teammate Gaitan transferred to Dalian Yifan [13] . The transfer amount of the Belgian was 30 million euros [14] . In the new club Carrasco began to play under the number "10".

Team Career

Yannick played in the national teams of Belgium until 15, 17, 18, 19 and 21 years. In March 2015, he made his debut in the first team of the “Red Devils”, replacing Marouana Fellaini in the 69th minute of the qualification round of the European Championship against Cyprus (5: 0) [15] . Subsequently, Carrasco was included in the application of the Belgian national team for a trip to the final stage of the tournament in France , where he scored his first goal in the national team. This happened in the match 1/8 finals against Hungary (4: 0) [16] .
