Marga 'at-taklid ( Arabic. مرجع التقليد - who is emulated , role model) - the highest spiritual rank of Shiite spiritual leaders (mujtahids), the main religious authority in matters of law (fiqh) and theology with the right to make legal decisions (ijtihad). The orders of the margja at-taklid are binding on all members of the Shiite community.
According to the teachings of the Jafarites , the marga at-taklid is infallible and is considered among the Shiites as the viceroy of the hidden imam, whose behavior and actions are a role model. Marga at-taklid must have the ability to refrain from doing wrong, to defend faith, and to be absolutely submissive to God [1] .
In the Islamic Republic of Iran, the title is constitutionally fixed. This title was worn by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini , Iraqi Ayatollah Abul-Qasim al-Ho'y and other Ayatollahs. [2]
