History
On April 20, 1920, a committee was assembled to develop a project for the stadium in Uddevalla . Construction began next year, and already in mid-November 1922 the construction of stands began. The grand opening of the new sports field took place on May 5, 1923. The captain of the Royal Regiment of Bohuslain, Harald Niman, decided to immortalize one of the heroes of the Nordic sagas in the name of the stadium and addressed this question to the famous author and editor Theodor Stalheim, who advised him to use the name of the knight Khrimner ( Swede. Hrimner ). The captain liked this idea, so he decided to use this name, adding the word vallen to it.
For more than 30 years, Rimnersvallen did not undergo significant changes and was completely reconstructed only on the eve of the 1958 World Cup . The size of the football field was brought to the European standard 105x68 meters, and conditions were created for practicing athletics at the stadium. The only match of Mundial 1958 took place on Rimnersvallen on June 8, 1958 between the teams of Brazil and Austria . This fight ended with a crushing victory of the Brazilians with a score of 3: 0 and became the most popular match for all the stadium’s existence - 17,778 spectators visited the game [1] .
In 1995, the Oddevold football club became the winner of the southern group of the first division of the Swedish championship and received the right to speak in the championship. Before the start of the 1996 season, reconstruction was carried out at the club’s home stadium, and the team played all the matches in the top division here. The attendance record during matches of club teams was set in 1996 in a duel between Oddevold and Gothenburg . This game was watched live by 10 605 spectators. The record could be even greater, however, according to eyewitnesses, several hundred people could not enter the arena and were forced to return home [2] .
On July 24, 2004, as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Swedish Football Union , a match between the women's teams of Sweden and Norway took place at Rimnersvallen, in which the Norwegians won a landslide victory 4-0 [3] .
At the moment, the stadium seats about 12,000 spectators, only 3,000 of whom have the opportunity to sit on individual plastic seats, while other places are standing. In addition, the sports complex includes a running surface around a football field , consisting of 6 running tracks, as well as a sector for high jumps and with a pole and a pit for triple jump competitions.
