History
Unlike the Red Team, the details of the creation of the Third Detachment are still unclear, but it is believed that it arose in 1980 and has since been an adversary of the Red Team. According to other sources, the Third Detachment was created by people who left the Red Team and the police who decided to become criminals. TC has become dominant in the northern and western regions, especially in the peripheral areas of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
In 1998, the Third Detachment entered into an alliance with ADA (Friends of Friends), which strengthened both organizations. In 2002, part of the people who left the vehicle organized their own group called the Real Third Squad .
In September 2002, Luis Fernando da Costa, aka Fernandinho Beira-Mar, one of the leaders of the Red Team, organized a riot in prison, in which the leaders of the vehicle, including the dealer Medeiros Ernaldo Pinto, were killed. Kelsino Wintem, a member of Friends of Friends, was accused of betrayal, which caused a gap between the TS and ADA.
