Story

Liza watches on TV an advertisement for the new Turbo-Diary, which beats everyone who is trying to read it (except the diary holder) with an electric current and tells her parents that she wants the same for her birthday. Homer agrees and goes with Bart to the store to buy a gift. But all the diaries are already sold out, so Homer is looking for a replacement - a set with which you can create your own cartoon about yourself or your friends, including because that set was acquired by Homer's neighbor - Ned Flanders .

Homer decides to make a cartoon about Lisa. However, Lisa herself does not like the cartoon: in it, she appears as a covergle (in fact, Lisa’s face is laid on top of the sprite another covergle), who loves chicken (although Lisa is a vegetarian), her best friend is Maggie , and her favorite book is magazines. Seeing this, Lisa realized that papa knew absolutely nothing about her and quarreled with her father. Homer is trying to learn something new about his daughter, but in vain - Lisa refuses to talk with her father. Then Homer consults with Mo. He recommends Homer to turn to private investigator Dexter Colt. He agrees to help and soon interrogates everyone who knows Lisa.

After examining the information received from Colt, Homer begins to reconcile with his daughter: includes an album of her favorite artist Miles Davis , leads her to a rally of animal rights activists and to the museum. The girl is happy with her father, but he will soon have to pay for his "knowledge": Dexter requires $ 1,000 for the work done, and since Homer does not have that kind of money, the detective tries to kill him, but Homer manages to escape. Dexter swears that he will regret not having paid the money.

Soon, all the animals that were experimented were abducted from the Springfield Laboratory (they were protested against at a rally where Homer took his daughter). At the crime scene, a bunch of things are discovered that belong to Lisa Simpson. Homer realizes that the girl was probably set up by the same detective whom Homer didn’t pay. Then the police drive up to the Simpsons house, so Homer and Lisa have to flee from them in Homer's sedan.

The fugitives are hiding in a hotel on the outskirts of the city. There, Homer confesses to his daughter that he hired a private detective to look after Lisa and write down various facts about her, and then he could not pay. Upon learning of this, Lisa hated her father again. And the police, listening to phone calls, finds Homer, and the father and daughter again have to run away. Soon, the couple finds banana peels in the garbage can, clogged with cigarette butts. It turns out that there is a circus nearby, where there are smoking monkeys and painted pigs - the very ones that were stolen from the laboratory. And soon the kidnapper himself appears. It really turned out to be Dexter Colt. He shoots at enemies. Homer protects his daughter from a shot, and then begins to run away from an angry detective. He runs into the Laughter Room, where Colt later wounds him. Lisa comes in last and hears Homer telling the villain the incident that happened when Lisa was only three years old. The touched Liza takes out a laser pointer (which Bart had previously presented to her) and hits Colt's eye in the beam. The villain is arrested, Homer and Lisa are acquitted, and the monkeys and pigs move to live in a farm with Cletus Spuckler.

In the scene, which is going on during the credits, Lisa nevertheless receives “Turbo Diary”. Before going to bed, she puts it on the table, and then falls asleep. Bart arrives and picks up the diary with the help of tongs, after which he brings it to Homer to read him a "bedtime story." As a result, Homer is shocked, and Bart laughs at his father.
