From 2007 to 2013, he was editor in chief of the official printed publication of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Church Orthodox Newspaper [2] .
Biography
Born on November 5, 1972 in Ussuriysk, Primorsky Territory, in the family of Major Grigory Mikhailovich Chernukha and teacher Lyudmila Petrovna [3] .
In 1987, after graduating from secondary school No. 3 of the city of Rivne , he entered the Dubnovsk Pedagogical School, which he graduated in 1991 with a specialty as a primary school teacher. From 1991 to 1992, he worked in a specialty at secondary school No. 27 of the city of Rivne [3] .
In 1992, with the blessing of the Archbishop of Rivne and Ostrog, Irenaeus (Middle) entered the Kiev Theological Seminary, which he graduated in 1995 and entered the Kiev Theological Academy , which he graduated in 1999 [3] with the qualification of a bachelor of theology.
From 1996 to 2001, he worked in the editorial office of the “Church Newspaper” and the newspaper “Orthodox Bulletin”.
In 2001 he entered the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. On April 13 of the same year, he was tonsured by the Viceroy of the Lavra, Metropolitan of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, in a Riasophore named Longin in honor of the martyr Longin Sotnik . On April 17 of the same year, he was ordained by the same bishop to the rank of hierodeacon [3] .
From 2001 to 2007 he carried the obedience of a typographer in the Lavra, oversaw the work of the Lavra publishing house, website, photo studio, worked in the Lavra studio of documentaries.
On April 3, 2003, he was tonsured with the same name, but in honor of the Monk Longin Pechersky [3] .
On August 27, 2003, he was ordained hieromonk [3] .
From 2007 to 2008, he headed the Synodal Department of the Mission of Spiritual Enlightenment.
Since 2007, he became the editor-in-chief of the official printed publication of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) “Church Orthodox Newspaper”, as well as the editor of the “Orthodox Calendar” and “Liturgical Instructions”.
Since 2008, he became deputy chairman of the information and education department of the UOC .
In November 2008, at the III festival “Faith and the Word” he was awarded the medal “1020th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia”, I degree [4] .
In 2013, he became chairman of the Calendar Commission of the UOC [5] .
Co-author of the program, textbooks and guidelines for the Christian Ethics in Ukrainian Culture course for grades 1–4 of secondary schools and a kindergarten (five-year period).
He has written many articles published in church newspapers, magazines, and online publications.
On August 7, 2013, a car driven by Archimandrite Longin turned over at high speed, the driver died on the spot [6] [7] . On August 9, in the refectory of the Monk Anthony and Theodosius of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra after the Divine Liturgy, the monastery’s governor, Metropolitan Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, performed the funeral service for Archimandrite Longin [8] .
