Player Career

He played as an attacking defender . He studied at Indiana University , in 1946 he signed a contract with the St. Louis Bombers team, which performed in the Basketball Association of America (BAA) , the predecessor of the NBA. Later, he played for the Three City Blackhawks team. In total in the BAA / NBA spent 5 seasons. Three times in a row he joined the 2nd national team of all the BAA stars ( 1947 - 1949 ). In total, during his career in the NBA he played 258 games in which he scored 3203 points (an average of 12.4 per game), made 134 rebounds and 775 assists .

Coach Career

In the 1949/1950 season , when Logan was still playing at the St. Louis Bombers club, the Red City Blackhawks team was led by Red Auerbach , who left the Boston Celtics after this season. The following season, Dave Macmillan was appointed Blackhawks head coach, but due to unsatisfactory team results, he was dismissed from his post in the middle of the championship. After Macmillan left, while he was looking for a replacement, Logan was appointed acting head coach , but he did not stay long in this position (spent only 3 games). Soon, his teammate Mike Todorovich took a vacant place, but he did not last long at the helm of the team, having spent only 42 games (14 wins with 28 defeats), and at the end of the championship he was dismissed, after which both (Logan and Todorovich) ended their sports career .

Death

Johnny Logan died on September 16, 1977 in Charlotte , North Carolina at the age of 56.
