He began his career in his homeland in Northern Ireland at the football club Colerain , also played in clubs in England, Scotland and the USA. Spent 31 matches for the national team , in which he scored 4 goals. In 2012, he was appointed coach of the Northern Ireland national football team.
Early years
Michael O'Neill was born July 5, 1969 in the city of Portadown , County Armagh, in the family of the Northern Irish Catholics Des and Patricia. He studied for a short time in elementary school, before the family moved to the city of Ballymena , County Antrim. In Ballymena, he attended All Saints Elementary School, and later - St. Louis Grammar School, where he won the FA Cup in Northern Ireland schools. He was also a promising Gaelic player representing the Antrim club before focusing on football. He played on the Star United youth football team for four years before joining Chimney Corner.
