Player Career
He played in the center position. He studied at the University of Eastern Kentucky and Ohio State University , in 1945 he signed a contract with the Indianapolis Kautskis team, which played in the National Basketball League (NBL) , and in 1947 joined the 2nd national team of all NBL stars . He later played for the Rochester Royals and Boston Celtics teams. In total, the NBA spent 10 seasons. In the 1950/1951 season, Riesen became the NBA champion in the Royals, and in the 1956/1957 season he repeated his success, but already in the Celtics. Four times took part in the match of all the NBA stars ( 1952 - 1955 ). Once included in the 2nd national team of all the NBA stars ( 1949 ). During his career in the NBL, he played 123 games in which he scored 1606 points (an average of 13.1 per game). In total, during his career in the NBA he played 637 games, in which he scored 7633 points (an average of 12.0 per game), made 5011 rebounds and 1058 assists .
In 1998, Riesen was included in the Basketball Hall of Fame [1] .
Death
Arnie Riesen died of bronchogenic carcinoma on August 4, 2012 in the city of Beachwood ( Ohio ) at the age of 87 years [2] .
