Cape May ( eng. Cape May , Cape May ) - a city (city) in the county of Cape May in the state of New Jersey . The city is located on the peninsula of the same name on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and is the southernmost settlement of the state.

The name comes from the name of the first governor of the province of New Netherlands , Cornelius May (Cornelius Jacobszoon May).
