Biography

Born in a working class family.

She studied at the Tyumen school number 50. When she was 12 years old, the Great Patriotic War began. Already in the first months of the war in Tyumen, 26 hospitals with 10 thousand beds were opened. The trains with the wounded went into the city one after another. And along with the doctors they were met by students, including Tamara and classmates. She helped unload wagons with the wounded, transport them to Tyumen hospitals, and then look after the soldiers as a nurse. At age 12, she saw how to properly apply plaster, change dressings, nursing, mutilated by war. It was during the Great Patriotic War that Tamara Satyukova’s dream came true - to become a surgeon.

In 1947, after graduation, she went to enter the Omsk Medical Institute . She applied to the medical faculty (this made it possible to obtain a surgeon’s diploma), but in the post-war period, mainly front-line soldiers were accepted to this faculty. And girls, as a rule, were enrolled in pediatric.

Studying at the Faculty of Pediatrics, enrolled in the surgical club, who worked at the Faculty of Medicine. In the 4th year I already worked in real operating rooms: together with my girlfriend, I volunteered on duty in emergency surgery hospitals.

At the end of her studies, she was among the ten who were fortunate enough to specialize in pediatric orthopedics and traumatology related to the surgical "sector" of medicine for another year. She was later offered to stay at the institute as a graduate student at the Department of Surgery. But I had to refuse - at home, in Tyumen, a sick mother was waiting.

Returning to Tyumen, in 1953, T. D. Satyukova headed the health department of the Tyumen region and at the same time was the chief pediatrician of this region. Being the only doctor in the region, she was engaged not only in pediatrics: she saved the region from the epidemic of sheep brucellosis that broke out in the village of Golovino (created an isolation ward there and nursed patients for a month and a half); was engaged in the construction of the children's sanatorium "Taraskul", Yarkovskaya hydropathic center, Tyumen regional hospital.

After fulfilling the necessary, she got a job as a surgeon in a polyclinic, then she was admitted by the emergency doctor on duty at the regional hospital. Later she moved to the city hospital, where a general surgeon was required. He mastered more complex operations - resection of the stomach, removal of the gall bladder. I got a ticket to trauma courses at the Novokuznetsk Institute for Advanced Medical Studies .

In 1958, she was sent to the clinical residency in traumatology and orthopedics of the Sverdlovsk Research Institute. There she met G.A. Ilizarov and his unique apparatus for treating patients with fractures, which allows you to treat injuries and orthopedic diseases of all segments of the skeleton, to increase up to 50 centimeters of a damaged or missing limb.

T. D. Satyukova mastered and began to promote this method. Ilizarov’s apparatus allowed her to put the heaviest patient with 27 fractures on her feet. He had a traffic accident, miraculously survived. Few believed that he would walk. But comprehensive treatment, nursing and the will to live did their job.

After the residency, she took training courses with G. A. Ilizarov himself and brought to Tyumen his personal gift - six devices. In those days it was a great rarity. Thanks to T. D. Satyukova, Tyumen became the second city after the Barrow , where they began to apply the Ilizarov method.

After returning to her native Tyumen in 1961, T. D. Satyukova was invited to the Tyumen Regional Clinical Hospital , where she headed the traumatology and orthopedic department from 1961 to 1986 [1] , then, until 2003, she continued to practice medicine.

In the early 1960s, when there was a rapid development of the North, injuries often occurred, and people received medical assistance not always qualified. Complications began at the fracture site: the bones did not grow together, a pseudoarthrosis was formed, complicated by osteomyelitis . Overnight, healthy, strong men became disabled. The disease was considered incurable, people were denied leading clinics and institutions of the country. And in the textbooks on this subject it was written: "The best method of treatment is amputation."

At her own risk, T. D. Satyukova began to look for a way to put the patients on their feet. And found him. Took on the most seemingly hopeless cases, tried and ... helped. The man was recovering right before his eyes. A disabled person became a healthy person. Later on this topic, T. D. Satyukova defended her thesis.

Traumatology refers to emergency types of assistance - these are accidents at home, at work, and road accidents. It was required to create a trauma service as soon as possible, equip clinics with the necessary equipment, and train personnel. Since T.D.Satyukova was the chief orthopedic traumatologist of the region for more than 30 years, she traveled to all disasters. She could be raised in the middle of the night, taken away from the middle of the theater premiere ...

An explosion of nitrate occurred in Jurminka - children played in an abandoned warehouse. Roofs tore off all houses. All glasses were knocked out, agricultural machinery carried away tens of kilometers and, of course, people were injured. The nature of the wounds was like in an atomic lesion: fractures, burns, head injuries. Most of the victims were taken to their hospital.

The second terrible case: the collision of passenger and freight trains near Ust-Lamenka. We drove out at night, in a thunderstorm and saw a terrible picture: the first two cars were burned completely, the rest had to be pushed with special equipment. They saved everyone who could be saved.

In 1969 there was a plane crash near Nizhnevartovsk . 5 kilometers before landing, the plane split in half. The tail part fell into the swamp, 26 people were saved from the head. There were several helicopter crashes in her practice. Most often this was due to overload, before the holidays all shift workers wanted to return home.

Almost from scratch, T. D. Satyukova created the trauma service of the region, with her direct participation 26 trauma and orthopedic departments, 56 trauma rooms, 6 round-the-clock emergency stations in the northern cities and regional centers of the south of the region were opened.

At the initiative of T. D. Satyukova, a prosthetic and orthopedic enterprise with a hospital on Odesskaya Street was built in Tyumen, a district trauma center for 280 beds was opened in Surgut, a regional trauma medical and labor expert commission was established, and an interdepartmental commission for the prevention of childhood injuries worked for a long time.

In addition to treating patients, she was engaged in a large social activity: she was a member of the All-Union Scientific Society of Traumatologists, deputy chairman of the regional society of traumatologists, a member of the board of the problem commission for traumatology of the Academy of Medical Sciences, a member of the regional peace committee, a member of the regional trade union, and a deputy of the city and district Councils.

She left medical practice only in 2003. She lived in Tyumen .

Tamara Dmitrievna Satyukova died on August 6, 2013 after a serious, prolonged illness.
