Biography
Representative of the Polish magnate clan Firleev coat of arms “ Levart ”. The eldest son of the captain of the royal Nikolai Firlei ( 1605 - 1640 ) and Sofia Skotnitskaya ( 1603 - 1684 ). Brother - royal secretary, canon of Lutsk and Krakow, Henryk Nikolai Firlei (d. 1707 ).
Inherited from his father the castle of Kamenetz-Podolsky . His stepfathers were the headman of Drogobych Nikolai Ostorog (c. 1627 - 1659 ) and the royal captain Yakub Kalinsky (d. After 1672 ).
In March 1657, Jan Firlei participated in the defense of the Kamenets castle from the army of the Transylvanian prince Gyorgy Rakoczy . Since 1682 he was called the subordinate Sanotsky, in 1688 he was appointed subordinate Przemysl . In 1696, Jan Firlei received the position of Sanotsky's chestnut .
