DescriptionThe average size of the spider-skakunchik. The body length of females is 6–8 mm, the male is 5 mm. The upper side of the male cephalothora is in the anterior half of light brown, in the posterior half - dark brown or black. Behind the eyes and sides of the cephalothora there are wide, light beige or white stripes. The belly in the center is light brown, framed by black and white stripes. The frontal area of the eyes is covered with light hairs. Pedipalps covered with long, light hairs.
Females are distinguished by coloration ( sexual dimorphism ). The head and chest are of the same brown color, there are no light stripes and spots.
SpreadThe species is distributed throughout the Palearctic [2] . It prefers dry habitats, especially the sunny edges of the forest with dense vegetation.
LifestyleThis spider is kept mainly in the lower tier of vegetation. He moves in the midst of grass, looking out for his prey.
During mating, the male climbs back to the female backwards and in this state moves along with the female for a long time. For actual mating, the male moves down to the side and inserts the pedipalps into the female's sex hole.
