History
The first Maronite bishop of Baalbek Gabriel I Mubarak is mentioned in 1671. The legal authority of Bishop Baalbek was approved at the Synod of Mountain Lebanon in 1736.
On August 4, 1977, the diocese of Baalbek was united with the diocese of Zahle . On June 9, 1990, the diocese of Baalbek-Zahle was divided into the diocese of Zahle and the diocese of Baalbek-Deir al-Ahmar.
