Joan Riudavets Moll ( Cat. Joan Riudavets Moll ; December 15, 1889 - March 5, 2004 ) is a Spanish centenarian who, at the time of his death, was considered the oldest verified person ever in the history of Spain . (Subsequent studies to create an international database on life expectancy revealed two previously unknown women who lived longer lives in Spain.) Riudavets became the oldest verified person in Europe after the death of Italian long-liver Maria Teresa Ligorio in May 2003 and the oldest living verified man in the world after the death of the Japanese long-liver Yukichi Tyuganji in September 2003 .

Joan Riudavets is the oldest verified man to ever live in Europe , and one of the seven fully verified men in history who have lived for more than 114 years.
Biography
Joan Riudavets was born on the island of Menorca , Spain . His mother, Catalina Moll Mercades, died at the age of 25 at the end of December 1889. Around the same time, his wife was born, whom he would marry after 28 years in 1917 . Their marriage will last until her death in 1979 . Riudavets worked all his life as a shoemaker , retired in 1954 , after which he became an adviser in the native village of Es Mijorn Gran . Riudavets has been on a Mediterranean diet all his life, which includes: olive oil , tomatoes , fish and bread . Riudavets, until his death, was very active, in good physical shape, able to walk without assistance and even ride a bicycle . His hobbies were: playing the guitar , singing and playing football .
He died at the age of 114 after a cold for several days (but not being seriously ill) in his homeland, on the island of Menorca , Spain . He was the last verified man born in the 1880s and the third verified man who lived to be 114 years old. He is now the seventh oldest verified man to ever live on Earth .
Two younger brothers survived Joan: Pere, who died in 2006 at the age of 105, and Jusep, who died in 2009 at the age of 102.
