Tashenov, Kazis Tashenovich

Academician of NAS RK, honorary member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor K. T. Tashenov is known as a prominent scientist in the field of human and animal physiology, who made a significant contribution to the development of physiological science in Kazakhstan. He developed a new direction in physiology "On the relationship of digestion and lactation, the mechanism of their regulation" has been widely recognized by the scientific community. K. Tashenov proposed and introduced 26 original methods of surgical operations that allow to study the activity of the digestive and metabolic organs in farm animals. These techniques are included in a special manual on surgery and physiology textbooks for universities.

For 15 years, he carried out joint research work with the institutes of human physiology of the Academy of Sciences of Czechoslovakia and the Academy of Sciences of Slovakia, the Institute of Nutrition Physiology of the Polish Academy of Sciences on the basis of a bilateral agreement on scientific cooperation (1976-1991).

Being the director of the Institute of Physiology (1986-1990) K. T. Tashenov showed great organizational abilities, the ability to work with a team. He put a lot of effort and labor into improving the quality and effectiveness of scientific and organizational work at the Institute. Under his leadership, the research topic was revised, priority areas were identified, intensive work was carried out to train young and highly qualified scientific personnel. An All-Union program was developed in the priority area “Physiology of Lymphatic Circulation” and “Physiology of Productive Animals”. In 1988, the Institute of Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR was determined by the special decision of the Department of Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR to be the head scientific institution on the problem of "Physiology of the lymphatic system" and Tashenov K. T.

Tashenov K. T. is the chairman of the Kazakh physiological society. Under his leadership, All-Union Symposia on the physiology of venous circulation and lymph circulation were held. In 1979, the 13th Congress of the I.P. Pavlov All-Union Physiological Society was held in Alma-Ata. For the organization and successful holding of this congress of physiologists by the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences, T. T. Tashenov was thanked. On his initiative and active participation, seven congresses were held (1988, 1992, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011) of the Kazakh Physiological Society with the invitation of scientists from foreign countries. Thanks to K. Tashenov at the XXXIV Congress of World Physiologists (St. Petersburg, 1997), the Kazakh Physiological Society was admitted to the International Union of Physiological Sciences.

For many years, K. T. Tashenov led the Physiology of Productive Animals section of the Scientific Council at the Physiology Division of the USSR Academy of Sciences and was a member of the International Commission on the Physiology of Digestion and Absorption at the USSR Academy of Sciences and a member of the Academician K. M. Bykov Prize Award Commission.

The organizational abilities of K. T. Tashenov were highly appreciated by the scientific community. He was elected a member of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR and headed the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences as an academician-secretary. He took part in creating the concept of a priority area for the development of biological science in Kazakhstan.

K. Tashenov is the supervisor of fundamental research on the problem “Mechanisms of regulating the function of visceral systems and their correction to increase the body's resistance to environmental conditions”, conducted by the Institute of Human and Animal Physiology of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For many years he was elected chairman of the dissertation council for the defense of doctoral and master's theses in normal physiology and physiology of humans and animals.

KT Tashenov paid great attention to the training of highly qualified personnel. He prepared more than 25 candidates and doctors of sciences. Over 300 scientific works have been published, including 5 monographs and 20 works abroad in English, German and Czech. He developed and implemented guidelines for the use of natural and synthetic feed additives for productive animals, for which copyright certificates were obtained. From 1967 to 2004 (37 years), he served as professor in the Department of Human and Animal Physiology of Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi.

In 1992, K. T. Tashenov was elected a member of the International Order of the White Cross in Australia with the title of “Knight of Humanity” and a member of the Grand Council of the World Parliament of the Confederation of Knights (Sydney).
