"Mikhailovskaya virgin land" ( Ukrainian "Mikhailovska Tsilina" ) is a nature reserve located in the Lebedinsky district ( Sumy region , Ukraine ). Created - December 31, 2009 . Area - 882.9 ha.

History

In 1928, the Mikhailovskaya virgin reserve was founded with an area of ​​202.48 hectares. In 1961, by combining Mikhailovskaya virgin soil together with three more reserves ( Khomutovskaya steppe , Stone graves , Streltsovskaya steppe ), one nature conservation object was created - the Ukrainian Steppe Nature Reserve . By decree of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko No. 1035 dated December 11, 2009, Mikhailovskaya virgin land was allocated as a separate conservation facility with an already increased area of ​​882.9 ha.

Description

The reserve was created with the aim of protecting and preserving the only plot of meadow steppe in Ukraine in the forest-steppe zone, as well as typical and unique forest and wetland natural complexes of Ukrainian Polesye. Mikhailovskaya virgin land is located on the watershed of the rivers Grun and Sula .

The composition of the new reserve includes the following lands:

  1. the territory of the branch of the Ukrainian steppe nature reserve "Mikhailovskaya virgin" with an area of ​​202.48 ha
  2. land reserve of Lebedinsky district state administration with an area of ​​663.92 hectares
  3. land reserve of the Nedrigailovskoy district state administration with an area of ​​9.5 hectares
  4. land of the Sumy Regional Production Administration of Water Management with an area of ​​7.0 hectares

Nature

The vegetation of the virgin lands of the reserve is similar for both the northern and southern steppes. On the territory of "Mikhailovskaya virgin land" 493 species of plants were registered. The main place is occupied by herbaceous-tyrsovye and herb-typchakovo-tyrsovye groups. On the territory of the reserve, 13 species of plants and mushrooms were found listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.

The fauna is represented by a hare and a common fox , birds, rodents, and there are also moose, wild boars, wolves, roe deer .
