Biography
Ivan Korunov was born on January 25, 1914 in the village of Chulkovo (now does not exist, was in the territory of the modern Komsomolsky district of the Ivanovo region ). After graduation, he worked in his native village, at the age of seventeen he became chairman of the collective farm . Later he moved to Komsomolsk , where he worked as an electrician at Ivanovo GRES . He graduated from three courses of the energy technical school. In 1934, Korunov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1937 he graduated from the Moscow Military Aviation Technical School, in 1939 - from the Kharkov Military Aviation School of Observer Pilots. From the first day of World War II - on its fronts [1] .
By September 1943, the Guard Captain Ivan Korunov was the navigator of the squadron of the 1st Guards Air Regiment of the 53rd Air Division of the 5th Air Corps of the USSR ADD . By that time, he had made 303 sorties to bombard accumulations of military equipment and manpower of the enemy, his important objects [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 13, 1944, for “exemplary fulfillment of command assignments and shown courage and heroism in battles with the German invaders” of the guard, Captain Ivan Korunov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 3361 [1] .
In total, during his participation in the war, Korunov made 463 sorties. After the war, he continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1958, with the rank of lieutenant colonel Korunov, he was sacked. He lived in Chernivtsi , worked in the regional administration of automobile transport. He died on September 22, 1995, was buried in the Central cemetery of Chernivtsi [1] .
He was awarded two orders of Lenin, two orders of the Red Banner , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two orders of the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
