Rudolf Hell ( German: Rudolf Hell ; December 19, 1901 , Egmül - March 11, 2002 , Kiel ) - German inventor , author (1925; patent granted in 1929) of the “Hell recorder” ( German Hellschreiber ) - an early predecessor of modern fax machines.

Biography
Born in Eggmühl (near Regensburg ) in the family of the head of the railway station, from 1919 to 1923 he studied electrical engineering (especially wireless telegraphy) at the Munich Technical College, and after the last until the spring of 1929 he worked there as an assistant with Professor Max Dieckmann, with whom he served a television station at an exhibition of vehicles (Munich, 1925). In the same 1925, the " Hella recorder " was invented; almost simultaneously with the receipt of a patent for it (4 years later), Hell founded Hell AG in Babelsberg . After World War II , the Hella enterprise was completely transported to the USSR, and in 1947 he was forced to start all over again - already in Kiel. Resuming its development in the field of television, Hell created in 1947 his first television receiver .
The 1950s and 1960s were devoted to the invention and production of machines for the manufacture of letterpress forms and electronic quality control of these forms, as well as scanners and prepress equipment. In 1971, Hell created the first compact fax machine, suitable for installation in the office.

Memory
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Rudolf Hell (during his lifetime), the Kiel authorities officially renamed the street of Siemenswall into Dr.-Hell-Strasse.
