The river forms a small, very picturesque and fertile Karalez valley, laid in the Upper Cretaceous limestones of the Inner Ridge of the Crimean Mountains , with rocky sides, the most famous of which are the natural monument of regional importance, the Karalesky Sphinxes ( Uzun-Tarla ) near the village of Krasny Mak [6] .

It was first mentioned in 1794, as the Suk-Chesme stream, flowing to Belbek , or Libilus, as the Tatars call it, and Pelagos, as the Greeks say in the work of Peter Pallas “Observations made during a trip to the southern governorates of the Russian state” [7] . The river is not indicated on topographic maps, it is signed in the tourist atlas [8] and, in general, is popular among tourists as lying on the route to many monuments of Crimea [9]
