Club career
Early career
Rimando was born in Montclair and began playing football at school. In 1997, he entered college and began to play for the university football team , together with Nick won the College Cup. In 2000, he signed a contract with MLS .
MLS Careers
In the 2000 draft, Rimando was at number 35, Miami Fusion selected. He quickly won a place at the base of ousting Jeff Cassar . After a successful season, Nick moved to DC United . The main goalkeeper, he was in the first two seasons, after Nick was injured and was ousted from the Troy Perkins . In 2004, Rimando won the MLS Cup , and in 2005, he regained his place as the main goalkeeper. [five]
On December 11, 2006, Nick and Freddie Adu were sold to Real Salt Lake , they were immediately resold to the New York Red Bulls , but they did not play and returned to the match. Rimando quickly became the main goalkeeper and in 2007 was recognized as the team’s most valuable player. In 2009, he helped the club win the MLS Cup and was recognized as the most valuable player in the MLS. With Rimando, Real Salt Lake set the MLS record at the gates - a total of 20 goals conceded in 30 league games. Nick himself set a record dry streak of 568 minutes.
March 3, 2013 Rimando became the second goalkeeper in the history of MLS, which reached the mark of 100 dry matches.
International Career
In 1999, Rimando in the US youth team , as a backup goalkeeper, took part in the World Youth Championship in Nigeria . November 17, 2002 in a friendly match against the national team of El Salvador, Nick made his debut in the US team [6] . As a backup goalkeeper, he took part in the CONCACAF Gold Cup , becoming its silver medalist.
In 2013, Rimando took part in the CONCACAF Gold Cup competition as the main goalkeeper. At the tournament he took part in all matches and won gold medals.
In 2015, Nick took part in the CONCACAF Gold Cup . At the tournament, he was a backup goalkeeper and did not enter the field.
