On April 6, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI appointed John Baptiste Le Zemian as Bishop of Hsinchu. On June 24, 2006, John Baptiste Le Zemyang was ordained bishop by Bishop Liu Xiandang, Luka Luke Liu Xiandang, accompanied by the Archbishop of Taipei Joseph Zheng Zaif and Bishop Jacob Liu Danguy .
