The election of the governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory was held in the Trans-Baikal Territory on September 8, 2013 on a single voting day . Direct elections of governors were also held in seven other constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

As of January 1, 2013, 822,277 voters were registered in the Trans-Baikal Territory [1] .
In the Trans-Baikal Territory, on a single voting day on September 8, 2013, in addition to the election of the governor, there were also elections of deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Trans-Baikal Territory of the second convocation , elections of the head of the city district "City of Petrovsk-Zabaykalsky " and the heads of urban settlements "City of Krasnokamensk ", " Ksenyevskoye " (pos. Ksenevka ), Priargunskoye (the village of Priargunsk ), Bukachachinskoye (the village of Bukachacha ), as well as the heads of 27 rural settlements.
The governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory is elected for five years.

Previous Events
On March 11, 2007, in the Chita region and in the Aginsky Buryat Autonomous Region , referendums were held on the unification of regions and the formation of a new region - the Trans - Baikal Territory . More than 90 percent of those who participated in the referendum in both regions voted for the union [2] .
In January 2008, Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted the candidacy of Ravil Faritovich to the Chita Oblast and Agin Buryat Okrug for the purpose of empowering the first governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory. Geniatulin since 1996 served as the head of the Chita region [3] . On February 5, the candidacy of Geniatulin was approved by the parliaments of the unifying regions.
On March 1, 2008, the Chita Oblast and the Aginsky Buryat Autonomous Okrug merged into the Trans-Baikal Territory , and Geniatulin assumed the post of Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory for a period of 5 years.
In June 2012, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Trans-Baikal Territory adopted the law “On the election of the Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory”. [four]
In February 2013, the term of governorship of Ravil Geniatulin expired . On February 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed the provisional governor of the region, Konstantin Ilkovsky ( Fair Russia ), until the appointment of a person elected governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory. [five]
Candidates for governors are nominated exclusively by political parties, self-nomination by law is not provided.
Nomination Support (Municipal Filter)
To register a candidate in the regional election commission, he will need to collect at least 8% of the signatures of deputies of representative bodies and (or) elected heads of municipalities of the region in his support. At the same time, the candidate must be supported in at least three quarters of the municipalities. In 2013, the total number of required signatures ranged from 346 to 363 , of which 48 to 50 were signatures of deputies of districts and urban districts and heads of districts and urban districts. 6 parties nominated candidates for the election of governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory. Only four were registered.
Each of the candidates upon registration should have submitted a list of three people, one of which, if the candidate is elected governor, will become a senator in the Federation Council from the regional government. The new procedure for the formation of the Federation Council entered into force in December 2012.
