Estevan Lopis Moragu ( port. Estêvão Lopes Morago , c. 1575 , Vallecas, now part of Madrid - after 1630 , Viseu ) is a Portuguese composer of Spanish descent, the largest Portuguese Renaissance polyphonist .

Biography
Born in Spain, but spent most of his life in Portugal. In 1592 - 1596 he studied with Filipi di Magallans at the Évora Cathedral . From 1599 he directed the choir in the cathedral of Viseu . In 1626 he was sent by the chapter of the cathedral to Lisbon for the publication of his works. In 1630 he shut himself up in the Franciscan monastery of Viseu, where, according to assumptions, he died.
Creativity
Composed motets (of which Oculi mei is most famous), respondents , psalms , Magnificates , wrote Requiem .
