Ghost in the Machine is the fourth studio album of the British rock band The Police , which was released in 1981 via A&M Records . Most of the material on this record was inspired by the work of the same name by Arthur Köstler , in whose honor the disc was named. This is the first album of the group, whose name was in English. Ghost in the Machine became multi- platinum in the United States, singles: “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”, “Invisible Sun” and “Spirits in the Material World” were successful on the charts. The album took 322 place in the list of “ 500 greatest albums of all time according to Rolling Stone magazine.”
