History
In 1922, at the government level, it was decided that it was necessary to create its own raw material base for the development of essential oil production. Over the next nine years, on the territory of the Crimean peninsula , large-scale work was carried out to organize specialized state farms for the cultivation of essential plants and their selection . The State Nikitsky Botanical Garden , the Chemical-Pharmaceutical Institute, as well as the All-Union Plant Growing Institute (VIR) and the All-Union Institute of Medicinal Plants (VILAR) were involved in this work. For the first time, in the former Soviet Union, the production of rose essential oil was organized, the first seed plants of essential plants were laid, which allowed to stop importing seeds from abroad.
In 1931, the Alushta essential oil state farm was created on the basis of the branch of the state-owned farm Medicinal and Technical Raw Materials, and until 1937 branches located in the settlements: Radiant, Izobilnoye, Maly Mayak , Alushta , Komsomolskoye, Krasnokamenka, Gurzuf , Natashino were attached to it , as well as state farm them. Krasina, Alushta state farm acquired the status of the plant . The Moscow laboratory of VNIIEMP was transferred to Natashino. Lavender sown areas grew to 238 hectares, which allowed to collect up to 511 tons of inflorescences and receive up to 4056 tons of lavender essential oil .
In the period from 1939 to 1941, thanks to high yields, “Alushta essential oil plant” was a regular participant in the Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the USSR.
In April 1944 , after the liberation of the territories from the Nazi invaders , the restoration of essential oil production began, the planting of roses and lavender was resumed.
By the beginning of the 50s, production facilities consisted of 4 main raw material processing points in the villages of Lavender, Pink, Small Mayak and Natashino. Over the next five years, their reconstruction and modernization of processing equipment was carried out, a new processing station for lavender and rose was built in the village of Partizansky.
On April 9, 1958, the Alushta Essential Oil Plant was renamed the Alushta Essential Oil Farm Plant.
In 1966, the sown area of lavender reached 316 hectares, the gross inflorescence was 882 tons, 5845 kg of lavender essential oil was obtained. The sown area of roses reached 70 hectares, the gross yield of flowers amounted to 180 tons, 188.8 kg of rose essential oil was obtained.
By 1969, the production of consumer goods and shampoos was launched: “Sadko”, “Lada”, “Crimean”, “With Henna”, “Lavender” toilet water was produced. Produced: 12.6 tons of essential oils, 1.1 million tons of cosmetics. The collection of essential oil raw materials averaged 1,780 tons. The leading crop is lavender, the main variety of N-701. Essential oil obtained from the mountain lavender of the Alushta Essential Oil Farm State Farm is the best in the Soviet Union and is in high demand among foreign companies in France , Germany , and Cuba .
By the end of the 70s and the beginning of the 80s, the next reconstruction of processing facilities and equipment was carried out, the production of essential oil raw materials and essential oils reached its historic maximum:

Since the mid-80s, due to a decrease in budgetary allocations , a decline in essential oil production began. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the production of essential oils fell sharply. The constant rise in the cost of energy and a decrease in demand for essential oils has led to the fact that the production of essential oil products until 1997 became unprofitable.
On June 26, 1997, the Alushta Essential Oil Farm Plant became an open joint-stock company , which included branches located in the settlements: Izobilnoye, Luchistoe, Yuzhny, Natashino. The total land area is 1190 ha.
