Francesco Zabarella (Zabarella or De Zabarellis, August 10, 1360 , Padua - September 26, 1417 ) - taught canon law in Padua and Florence , later was a Florentine archbishop and cardinal .

In the era of the great schism, Zabarella was one of the main initiators of the convocation of the Council of Constance , demanded reform of the church, tried to put an end to the strife between the Teutonic knights and Poland ; took part in the commission appointed to study the teachings of Hus . Death prevented his probable election to the Pope . Of his works stand out: "Commentarii in decretales et Clementinas"; "De felicitate libri III"; "Opuscula de artibus liberalibus"; “De natura rerum divinarum”; “Commentarii in naturalem et moralem philosophiam”; "Historia sui temporis concilia" ( 1582 ); "De schismate."
