Biography

Born in Jiangsu Province, graduated in 1959 from the Chinese University of International Relations [3] .

A year after entering 1950 in Shanghai Textile College (later - Donghua University ) was transferred to the People’s Public Security University. In 1959, he successfully graduated from the Chinese University of International Relations with a degree in English.

Until 1968, he worked at the Ministry of Public Security, during the years of the Cultural Revolution he underwent a “purge” and was sent for re-education to the seventh cadet school.

In October 1975, he was rehabilitated, first working at the Chinese Academy of Sciences , then as secretary of General Luo Ruicong . In July 1983, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Public Security.

In 1990-1998, he held the post of Minister of Public Security of the PRC. He gained fame thanks to the introduction of a single number "110", by which it was possible to report crimes in major cities of the country. Simplified the rank system in law enforcement. During his leadership of the ministry, the sovereignty of the People's Republic of China had to return to Hong Kong , in connection with which Tao Xiju was engaged in the fight against the Hong Kong triads . He has the dictum: “The members of the triads are not always bandits. As long as they are patriots interested in maintaining the prosperity of Hong Kong, we must respect them. ” [3]

Tao Syuju was a member of the CPC Central Committee of the 14th and 15th convocations (1992-2002). Until 2009, he remained a deputy of the All-China Assembly of People's Representatives .
