It originates from the marshland to the west of the river Kimzha . The length of the river is 36 km. The area of its catchment basin is more than 300 km² .
The river freezes in November and remains under the ice cover until April. Power snow and rain.
Tributaries: Zakharyha , Big Shirsh , Koval .
Not far from the mouth of the river are the villages Sovpolye and Chizhgora Sovpolsky rural settlement .
The name Owl in translation from the Sami is interpreted either as residential (river) or as smoky (river) - from “suovva” smoke; dwelling, house [2] .
