Biography
Ivan Korobkin was born in 1921 in the village of Rodino (now the Rodinsky district of the Altai Territory ). He lived at the station Manzovka (now - the village of Sibirtsevo in the Primorsky Territory ). He graduated from ten classes of the school. In 1939, Korobkin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1941, he graduated from the Leningrad Artillery School. Since the beginning of World War II - on its fronts. By September 1944, Captain Ivan Korobkin commanded the division of the 233rd Guards Artillery Regiment of the 95th Guards Rifle Division of the 5th Guards Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front . Distinguished himself during the forcing of the Dniester [1] .
Korobkin’s division successfully crossed the Dniester and took an active part in the bridgehead on its opposite bank. On September 16, 1944, he successfully repelled a German counterattack, destroying 4 assault guns. During the second counterattack, when the enemy infantry broke through to the positions of the battery, Korobkin organized a circular defense , dropping it. In that battle he died. He was buried in the village of Tashlyk of the Grigoriopol district of Transnistria [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, Captain Ivan Korobkin was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also awarded the Orders of Lenin , Alexander Nevsky , World War 2 degree, Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
