Champion of the Euro Series of Formula 3 1978 .

Member of the British Touring Championship in 1994 (Volvo 850 Estate car)

In 1999, he founded his own team - Racing for Holland , where he chased in the FIA Sportscar championship with his student Val Hillbrand . In 2002 and 2003 received memorable awards for achievements in this championship.

In 2005, he became the owner (leader?) Of the Netherlands team in the A1 Grand Prix series, where he invited the Dutch rider, first Jos Ferstappen for the 2005-2006 season , and then Jeroen Blekolemolena for the 2006-2007 season instead.

Youth

Lammers began his career as a car washer at the Zandvoort Drifting School. As a 12-year-old boy, he showed visitors how to skid correctly, being inspired by the owner of this school and racer Rob Sloutmaker. He immediately saw talent in it. When Jan turned 16, he began to race on a local track. Soon, Lammers goes to the start of the Dutch body championship and Formula Ford , before moving to Formula 3 in 1977. He could not achieve good results with the Hawke team, and the next season he goes to Alan Docking Racing Team Holland. Ian's teammates were the future Formula 1 driver Hub Rottengatter (who, however, did not achieve much success) and the future Indy 500 winner Ari Luendyik. This was the right decision, since Jan won the 1978 season in a tight fight with the Swede Anders Olofsson.

Career

Lammers held his first Formula 1 race at Shadow in 1979, where his partner was Elio de Angelis . However, he did not make a bright debut, since de Angelis was the first pilot of the team. Lammers' best result that year was 9th in Canada .

In 1980, Jan transferred to the team of Gunther Schmidt - ATS . In the first three races, Lammers failed to qualify, but on the Long Beach circuit he qualified very highly - fourth. This moment can be considered the take-off of his career. During this year, he moved to Ensign , but he managed to qualify only three times. In 1981, he returned to the ATS, but spent there only the first four races of the season. In 1982, Lammers joined Theodore - his season there was, to put it mildly, a disaster. However, he managed to get to the start of the home Grand Prix . Throughout his career, Lammers has not scored a single point.
