History

The Diocese of Sabina was formed in the V century . On November 25, 1841, the diocese of Poggio Mirteto was formed.

On June 3, 1925, the dioceses of Sabina and Poggio Mirteto were united into one diocese - Sabina and Poggio Mirteto. On September 30, 1986, the name of the diocese was changed to "Sabina-Poggio Mirteto."

Ordinaries of the diocese

On April 11, 1962, Pope John XXIII established that cardinal bishops only hold the title of suburbic dioceses, without interfering in their administration; pastoral management of dioceses is entrusted to the resident bishops [1] .
