Tomasz Sapega (until 1598 - April 2/8, 1646 , Vilna ) was a statesman and military leader of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania , the governor of Venden ( 1641 - 1643 ) and Novogrudok ( 1643 - 1646 ).

Biography
The representative of the Koden line of the Belarusian magnate type Sapeg of the coat of arms " Fox ". The son of voevoda Novogrudsky and Minsk Nikolai Sapega (1558-1638) and Raina Dorogostayskaya. The younger brother is the elder nonmonoysky Kazimir Nikolay Sapega .
In 1617, Tomasz Sapieha studied at the Jesuit Collegium in Lublin , in 1619 - 1621 - at the University of Krakow . In 1621 - 1625 he continued his education abroad - in Ingolstadt ( 1621 ), Padua ( 1622 ), Bologna ( 1623 ) and Leuven ( 1625 ).
After returning home, Tomasz Sapieha was at the court of the King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania Sigizund III Vaz . In 1632 he lost his hand in a duel with Yuri Zenovich. At the head of his own hussar khorugvii participated in the Smolensk War (1632-1634) .
In 1640, Tomasz Sapieha was elected a marshal of the Lithuanian Tribunal . In April 1641, he became the governor of Wenden, and at the turn of 1642 - 1643 - the governor of Novogrudsky . Participated in negotiations with Moscow ambassadors.
Until 1638, he married Suzanne Khreptovich, the daughter of voivode Novogrudsky Jerzy Hreptovich ( 1586 - 1650 ) and Suzanne Nonhart (died 1645 ), from whom he had no offspring.
He was buried in the Franciscan church in Golshany [1] .
