He was born in 1967 in the Nanhai District of Foshan City District, Guangdong Province . In 1985, he won the gold medal of the youth championship of China. In 1986 he won the gold medal of the Asian Games in Seoul, in 1987 - the silver medal of the World Cup, in 1988 - the bronze medal of the Olympic Games in Seoul. In 1989, he again became the silver medalist of the World Cup, and in 1990 again won the Asian Games gold medal.
