Klevensky, Ivan Gavrilovich

Ivan Gavrilovich Klevensky is a college adviser, vice-governor of Smolensk (1839), Mogilev (1840-41) and Poltava (1841-43) provinces, chairman of the First Department of the Deanery Council of St. Petersburg. [1] [2]

He was vice-governor of the Poltava province from January 30, 1841 to May 26, 1843.

Case of embezzlement of public money

Transferred to St. Petersburg , Klevensky took the chair of the 1st Department of the Deanery .

Here Klevensky spent 156 thousand state money for his needs, for which, according to the sentence of the auditor general, which was highly approved on December 3, 1848, he was deprived of ranks, orders, and noble dignity, sentenced to prisoner companies, and then exiled to Siberia for settlement. Khrushchov , when he was governor-general in Siberia , saw him: “When I was governor-general, he writes, I saw Klevensky in Tomsk, refused the petition of the nearest authorities to appoint him clerk. Klevensky did not recognize me. Of course, I did not consider it necessary to remind about our acquaintance in Poltava ” [4]
