Ivan Gavrilovich Klevensky is a college adviser, vice-governor of Smolensk (1839), Mogilev (1840-41) and Poltava (1841-43) provinces, chairman of the First Department of the Deanery Council of St. Petersburg. [1] [2]

Biography
He was vice-governor of the Poltava province from January 30, 1841 to May 26, 1843.
Case of embezzlement of public money
Transferred to St. Petersburg , Klevensky took the chair of the 1st Department of the Deanery .
Here Klevensky spent 156 thousand state money for his needs, for which, according to the sentence of the auditor general, which was highly approved on December 3, 1848, he was deprived of ranks, orders, and noble dignity, sentenced to prisoner companies, and then exiled to Siberia for settlement. The estate of Klevensky was taken into custody. He had 6 roars in Poltava district. shower and 14 1/2 dess. land valued at 652 rubles. Earth brought an income of 65 p. 20 k. The proceeds of the estate were sent to the Order of Public Charity. [2]
Senator Lebedev wrote in his notes of 1849: “The end of the Klevensky case. The audience general decided it (they say) in Shemyakinski. Not certainly in that way. It is not resolved legally, but okay. Klevensky to arresting companies, and then to Siberia; collect 30 thousand from Glinka, Bolotnov and Librecht players, 14 thousand from Trubachev and all penalties under the Code. Other players were severely reprimanded, members of the Commission (Liprandi, etc.) remark. Gross calculation, of course, has no legal basis in distribution and generally lacks judicial truth; but, I repeat, it was decided okay, and all the sisters got earrings. This matter will be played out if it is possible and if L. A. Perovsky wants to put it in order. Obviously, they wanted to mess up the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and this goal is visible in the entire sentence. ” [3]
Khrushchov , when he was governor-general in Siberia , saw him: “When I was governor-general, he writes, I saw Klevensky in Tomsk, refused the petition of the nearest authorities to appoint him clerk. Klevensky did not recognize me. Of course, I did not consider it necessary to remind about our acquaintance in Poltava ” [4]
