Diran Adebayo , actually Oludiran Adebayo ( Eng. Diran Adebayo, Oludiran Adebayo ; b. August 30, 1968 , London ) - English writer of Nigerian origin (his ancestors are from the Yoruba people ).

Biography

Grew up in multicultural north London. On a won scholarship, he studied at Malvern College ( Worcestershire ), graduated from the Law Faculty of Oxford University . He worked as a reporter for The Voice , on the BBC radio and television. He made his debut with an autobiographical novel Variety of Black ( 1996 ), which was a success and received several major awards. Led a column in the newspaper New Nation , constantly published in the newspapers The Guardian , The Independent , the magazine The New Statesman . Wrote the script for the documentary Out of Africa for BBC Television ( 2005 ). He compiled several anthologies of modern prose of Great Britain and countries of the British Commonwealth. Working on the third novel.

He lives in London. His older brother is a writer, journalist, radio host, Dotun Adebayo, holder of the Order of the British Empire (b. 1960 ).

Recognition

Member of the Royal Literary Society , National Arts Council . In 2003 , the Evening Standard newspaper called the writer one of the 100 most influential residents of London.
