Club career
Born in the Gracia district of Barcelona, he took his first steps as a football player at the Peña Morales Club. After some time with Mollet, in 1955 he moved to Espanyol [2] .
Moving to Espanyol, Train had to compete for a place in the squad with two-time winner of the Zamora trophy Marcel Domingo and Miguel Soler. However, another legendary goalkeeper, Ricardo Zamora , who was training Espanyol just then, gave Train the opportunity to make his debut in the first division in the same season. This happened in the last round of the league on April 22, 1956 in a match against Deportivo Alaves , which ended in a 6-0 victory for the Catalans.
From the next season, with the departure of Domingo, Vicente Train began to take to the field more often and within four years he became the undisputed team leader and one of the most outstanding goalkeepers of the Spanish championship, it was then that Real Madrid became interested in him. He played for the Galacticos for four seasons, in which he won four league titles, the Spanish Cup and two times became the finalist of the European Cup . On an individual level, he won the Samora trophy for goalkeepers three times in the league. During his performance in Madrid, he also played in the national team.
Given the level of younger goalkeepers such as Antonio Betancourt and Jose Araquistine , Vicente Train left the club during the summer of 1964, joining the ranks of Mallorca . He spent two seasons at the club before moving to Deportivo La A Coruña , where he ended his career in 1967.
National Team
He made his debut in the national team on April 2, 1961 in a friendly match at the “ Santiago Bernabeu ” between Spain and France .
Seven times went on the field in the matches of the Spanish national team. He became the winner of the 1964 European Championship without having played a single match in the final stage.
