Tampa Bay Lightning
Paul Ranger was selected in the sixth round of the 2002 draft pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning team. July 14, 2007 extended the contract with the club for three years [1] . After the end of the 2007–08 season , he had surgery on his right shoulder [2] , the recovery took about 6 months [3] . February 20, 2009 due to a shoulder injury received during the season, was eliminated before the end of the championship [4] [5] . However, the return to the ice in the new season was short. The ranger took part only in eight matches, after which the club granted him indefinite leave for personal reasons [6] . Steve Yzerman , general manager of Lightning, said that "... At the moment he (the Ranger) is not ready to return to the NHL, and I respect his position " [7] . After that, Paul Ranger missed two seasons. In total, he played 270 games for Tampa and scored 92 (18 + 74) points [8] .
Toronto Maple Leafs
On August 21, 2012, it was announced that the Ranger had resumed his playing career and signed a contract with the AHL club Toronto Marlis [8] . At the end of the season, it became known that Edmonton Oilers was interested in his services, whose new head coach was Dallas Eekins, the former Ranger mentor at Marlis [9] . But on July 24, 2013, Paul Rager signed a one-year contract with Toronto's main team, Maple Leafs [10] .
